These polymers convert mechanical or thermal energy into electrical energy and vice versa. Recent research works led by Pennstate Professor Qiming Zhang and involving Arkema, North Carolina State University (USA), Case Western Reserve University (USA), and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), highlights a breakthrough in the understanding and improvement of our electroactive polymers. Modifying their structure gives them unrivalled performance, well beyond the properties of electroactive ceramics.
